Apart from being an actor, Niketan Sharma has written and directed several plays. While studying in Delhi, he became a part of the theatre group in Kirorimal College. He has mentioned in many of his interviews that doing theatre is one of his biggest passions in life. As far as screen appearances are concerned, one of the most loved characters played by Niketan remains Naveen Shetty from the Sony LIV series ‘Cubicles’, the fourth season of which dropped a couple of days ago.
Speaking about his journey on the show, Niketan says, “I feel it is a blessing to work on a show for four seasons. It also serves as a validation of the fact that the audience has showered immense love upon it. As individuals, we are growing with the characters we play on screen. In these four seasons, you can see how Shetty has evolved. As actors, we imbibe certain qualities from the characters we play and vice-versa. If the writing was dull, a sense of monotony would have steeped in. However, that was never the case. The writing has been dynamic and one of the strengths of the show”.
When we are introduced to Shetty in the first season, he comes across as a very reserved, almost prudish person. However, with time, one got to witness the different shades of the character. In this season, too, one saw him doing certain things which one would expect him to do. In one of the episodes, he pulls off a difficult task, helps his team members and says, “end mein hero waala kaam maine hi kiya na”.
“One had never seen him saying that kind of line. He felt happy about the fact that he could help his colleagues. Saying this line made me feel very good. I have received a lot of love from the audience for playing Shetty. I am glad the show has been around for four seasons now. I hope the makers put together a fifth season soon and I get to play him again”, states Niketan.
