Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi aka Mahatma Gandhi is regarded as the father of the nation and is arguably the most important name in the history of the country. The man, who played a crucial role in getting the country independent, was murdered by a man named Nathuram Godse on 30 January, 1948, leaving the country in a state of shock and gloom.
The film ‘The Gandhi Murder’ explores the same subject and aims to bring to the fore certain facts and information that have not reached out to a large section of people living in modern day India. Sixteen years after Gandhi was murdered, a committee was set up which prepared an elaborate report stating that a lot of politicians and police officials were aware of the fact Godse was planning to kill Gandhi. Despite having this information at their disposal, they did not do anything to prevent the incident.
The film talks about several such events which would prove to be a revelation to the audience. The film releases worldwide on 30 January, 2018 across the globe but ironically, the one country it will not be releasing in is India, the land where the story is based in. The film already got severely delayed because of a long battle the makers fought with the Censor Board and they did not want to delay the release further. The makers are hopeful of releasing it in India in the near future.
