From a very young age, Bharat Patel was attracted to the world of cinema. Despite being an established businessman, he decided to get into the exciting but unstable world of filmmaking purely out of passion. His dedication and hard work bore fruit as his company Bholenath Movies has distributed several Bollywood films including blockbusters like ‘Dabangg’ in the Gujarat territory.
“I have always wanted to be a part of the process of making films. I knew there were risks involved in it, so I learnt everything step-by-step. Our company is fortunate to distribute some of the biggest films made in Bollywood made in the last couple of years in the Gujarat territory. We have been very transparent and honest in our dealings and that is the reason we enjoy tremendous goodwill in the industry.”
The producer-distributor did have to go through a bad experience during the making of his production ‘Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi’. Sunny Leone was supposed to do a special dance number in the film was also paid Rs. 5 lac as advance for the same. Leone backed out of the film and did not return the amount to Patel.
Talking about the incident he says, “Yes, it was a very bad experience. It was the first film our company had produced and it taught me a lot of important lessons. Now, I will be more careful while dealing with people. We are now looking at producing multiple films a year and will tap into different genres. Some of those films will be made on a big budget and shot abroad.”
The enterprising man will soon be making some exciting announcements about the kind of film his company will roll out this year.
