It has been a while since Sujoy Ghose delivered a hit as a director. The director who started out with ‘Jhankaar Beats’ in 2003 had last tasted commercial success with ‘Kahaani’ (2012. Since then, he made ‘Kahaani 2’, produced ‘TE3N’ but none of these films could register an impact at the box-office.
The filmmaker has bounced back with ‘Badla’, an official remake of the Spanish film ‘Contratiempo’ aka ‘The Invisible Guest’. The film opened to a decent figure last Friday and had huge growth over the weekend. The film is now on its course to become a certified hit and Sujoy could not have been happier.
“I am extremely thrilled with the love from audience for Badla. When audiences show this kind of faith in your product, it further helps directors like us to bring more such content on the big screen,” says the director.
‘Badla’ also marks Sujoy’s first collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan. The actor’s company Red Chillies Entertainment has produced the film.
