Right from her debut film, Bhumi Pednekar has shown us that she is really inclined to play characters that people can relate to. From her unusual debut, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, in which she put on weight to show societal stereotype towards plus size women, to her unafraid and bold character choices in her next films Lust Stories, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Son Chiriya, Bhumi wowed everyone with her choices and her brilliant acting.
A young actor, Bhumi is currently doing 6 films and she feels most of the characters she is playing are again extremely relatable. “I am drawn to characters that I can connect to. While choosing a film. I try and understand if audiences will connect to my character because that’s the victory of cinema. Such characters excite me more because they are layered, they are complex and they have a strong sense of being,” says Bhumi.
With Bala, a social satire, Dolly Kitty Aur Wo Chamakte Sitare, a drama about dreams and aspirations of women, Saand Ki Aankh, a biopic on the oldest women sharpshooters of the world, Pati Patni Aur Woh, a romantic comedy, an untitled horror film with Vicky Kaushal and the multi starrer Karan Johar epic Takht; Bhumi has a stellar line up.
