It is not just the content-rich films based on human relationships that the talented filmmaker duo – Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee are known for. The versatile filmmakers are also renowned for the varied musical palette of all their films. Their upcoming film, the eagerly anticipated Gotro, is no different.

After winning hearts with the melodious recreation of Rabindra sangeet – ‘Neel Digante’, and the peppy mood uplifting ‘Rangabati’, the makers have dropped another impressive number from the film – ‘Mashima Hitler’

Picturised on film’s protagonist Mukti Debi, essayed by the talented Anashua Majumdar, ‘Mashima Hitler’, has a street-style flavour to it. The song gives an interesting insight into Mukti Debi’s character. Mukti Debi is a well-educated woman, who has some very strict rules and policies about her house – Gobindo Dham, because of which she has earned the moniker – Hitler. The song is about Mukti Debi and her quirks, which has frustrated everyone, including the caretaker of the house – Tariq Ali, played by Nigel Akkara. After playing the lead role in ‘Mukherjee Dar Bou’ under Windows Production, Biswanath Basu is seen matching his steps to the tunes of ‘Mashima Hitler’.

While Anindya Chattopadhyay has done a great job with the composition of this lively track, ‘Mashima Hitler’ is brought to life in the vivacious voice of Babul Supriyo, his first song after becoming Union minister for the second time. This song is a new addition to the list of splendid numbers sung by Babul Supriyo.
Gotro is based on a social issue and tries to remind us of the importance of humanity over religion through a heart-warming story.

Like all Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee films, Gotro is produced by Windows Production. The film will hit the screens in August on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.
