Director duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, in any way you say it, are undeniably the most successful and prolific filmmakers of the Bengali film industry, who have seamlessly etched a special place in the hearts of the audience across the country with their content-rich films. Made under their production company Windows Production, their heart-warming films have made an indelible impact on viewers of all age groups.
Since their very first film, Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee have passed quite a few milestones at the box office and now have made it a habit to whip up a storm at the BO with each of their heart-warming films. In fact, this year, the duo has surpassed all their previous records and delivered not one but three hit films so far.
The duo kickstarted the year with Windows Production’s Mukherjee Dar Bou, a beautiful film that explores the relationship between a mother and daughter-in-law in a new light. This woman’s day release not only touched a chord with one and all, but also set the cash registers ringing.
Following the success of Mukherjee Dar Bou, the versatile directors released the much-awaited film – Konttho. The heart-warming film, which celebrates hope and fragility of life while dealing with the subject of laryngeal cancer, was hailed from all quarters and stirred up quite a storm at the BO.
And now, within a matter of few months of Konttho’s release, the connoisseurs of depicting human relationships on screen — Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee — have released another film with a beating heart – Gotro. A poignant take on a mother-son relationship, infused with a message of strong communal harmony, Gotro made a strong impression on critics and the audience alike and is still enjoying a successful run at the BO.
Clearly, Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee have not only mastered the artistic side of filmmaking but also the commercial aspect of it, and it won’t be a surprise if their next release this year – Belashuru, which is scheduled to release during Puja, also strikes gold at the box office.
