While Rakul Preet is a part of the main cast of writer-director Milap Milan Zaveri’s ‘Marjaavaan’, apart from the trailer one did not really get to see a glimpse of her in the songs and other promotional material which came out later. While Raghu (Sidharth Malhotra) and Zoya’s (Tara Sutaria) forms the core of this revenge drama, Rakul, too, plays an integral part in the film. Finally, in ‘Haiya Ho’, the freshly released track from the film, one gets to see a good glimpse of Aarzo, the character she plays in the film, and the equation she shares with Raghu in the film.
‘Haiya Ho’ is a recreated version of the popular track ‘Chahe Meri Jaan Tu Le Le’ from the Vinod Khanna – Madhuri Dixit starrer ‘Dayavan’ (1988). The original song was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and written by Indeevar. The track has been recreated by Tanishk Bagchi who has also written new verses for it. While Sapna Mukherjee and Jolly Mukherjee rendered the original track, the recreated version has been recorded in the voices of Tulsi Kumar and Jubin Nautiyal. Tulsi sounds very different from her usual self here.
Rakul, who plays a bar dancer in the film shows some graceful moves in the song. One has seen her gyrating to several popular numbers down south but in Bollywood, she had not got many opportunities to bring her dancing prowess to the fore. There are some dialogues between Rakul and Siddharth and that, in turn, gives one a glimpse of the dynamics between them in the film.
