The Milap Milan Zaveri directed opened to Rs. 7.03 crores on Monday. Despite largely negative reviews, this masala entertainer managed to find good audience on its opening day and registered good footfalls in the mass circuits. The film has opened better than most of recent films which its leading man Sidharth Malhotra was a part of. This was a positive sign as barring ‘Ek Villain’ (2014) none of Sidharth Malhotra’s films had managed to warm up to the single-screen audience in B and C centres.
While mass-entertainers do not show much of a growth on the second day and there are chances of them showing a bit of a dip, ‘Marjaavaan’ has managed to maintain steady collections and has done slightly better than its opening day by collecting Rs. 7.21 crores on Saturday. The film is expected to grow further on Sunday where families in the B and C centres could come to watch it.
The collections of the first two days has enabled the film to register a healthy total of Rs. 14.24 crores. Ideally, one would expect the Sunday numbers to be higher than that of Friday and Saturday and that would give an idea as to how successfully the film has passed the weekend test.
