In the last decade and a half, Govinda, one of the biggest stars in Hindi cinema at one point of time, has mostly disappointed with his choice of films. There has been a spark or two in the form of films like ‘Partner’ but the actor has largely done forgettable cinema in that period. The trailer of his new film ‘Fryday’, co-starring Varun Sharma, Prabhleen Sandhu and Digangana Suryavanshi, dropped today and it might just be that film that brings the actor back in the reckoning.
In the trailer, we see a young salesman (Varun Sharma) who has not had much success at his job. We are then introduced to his brother-in-law, a theatre actor (Govinda) who cheats on his unsuspecting wife (Prabhleen Sandhu) and has an affair with a much younger woman (Digangana Suryavanshi). There are a host of other characters played by Sanjai Mishra and Brajesh Kala, who add to the fun. There are a bunch of funny dialogues in the trailer which get one further interested in the film.
The film is helmed by Abhishek Dogra, who had last directed the moderately entertaining ‘Dolly Ki Doli’, starring Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and Pulkit Samrat. He has also directed a soon-to-release web show for ALT Balaji. The trailer of ‘Fryday’ is quite entertaining and one hopes the film lives up to the fun and the energy that comes across in it.
