The Battle Of Saragarhi is an important chapter in the history of India and Bollywood, on several occasions, has shown interest in telling this story. A lot of filmmakers planned different films on this subject at different points of time but finally, the story is all set to come alive on the big screen. While the film was earlier supposed to be a collaboration between Dharma Productions and Salman Khan Films, the latter opted out of the project for some reason and now Azure Entertainment, Cape Of Good Films and Zee Studios have joined forces with Dharma to back this ambitious film.
The trailer has a concoction of spirituality, bravery and patriotism – all these elements come to the fore effectively in the three minute long trailer. The battle scenes seem promising too. This is probably the first time Akshay Kumar is doing a period film and he seems to have put in a lot of effort to understand his character and the era which he belongs to. One gets to see only a small glimpse of leading lady Parineeti Chopra and one can’t help but wish there was more of her.
Though director Anurag Singh has made two Hindi films (‘Raqeeb’, ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’) in the past, he is primarily known for his work in Punjabi cinema. ‘Kesari’ feels just like the right film for him to make his comeback into the Hindi Film Industry.
