Ever since the two parts of the ‘Baahubali’ series came into being, filmmakers in India started understanding the power of the ‘big event’ film – the kind of film that marries scale with content and one which is enjoyed best on the big screen. A bunch of films which will come out in the near future such as ‘Takht’ and ‘Kalank’ are period films mounted on a huge scale. Before these films arrive, there is a historical that is slated to hit the screen in January. One of the reasons that makes ‘Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi’ special is the fact that it has been written by K.V Vijayendra Prasad, the writer of the ‘Baahubali’ series.

If the trailer of the film is anything to go by, the makers have a super-hit in their hands. The visuals are extraordinary but what makes the trailer really exciting it gives us a glimpse of a very important chapter of India’s struggle for independence. We get to see this chapter for the very first time on the big screen and playing the role of Rani Laxmibai or Manikarnika, as the film’s title chooses to address her, is Kangana Ranaut, one of the finest actresses around.

The teaser of the film, which was launched a while back, left a solid impact and the trailer is bound to make the audience even more excited for this film. In the recent past, there was some controversy about director Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi leaving the film because of Kangana’s interference in the film. However, the director has been duly credited for his work and the film seems to be on the right track now.
