‘The Lunchbox’, Ritesh Batra’s debut feature film was a love story of the most unusual kind. Here was a film which talked about love and companionship without putting the man and the woman in the same frame throughout the film. In ‘Photograph’, we see the lead pair meeting each other and sharing a few warm moments together but in this film, too, love seems to be an emotion which is expressed without using physical means.
Rafi (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is a street photographer who requests Miloni (Sanya Malhotra), a young woman he meets, to pretend to be his fiancée in front of his grandmother so that she stops prodding her to get married. What began as an act starts culminating into a feeling that is real and palpable. There is a sweet moment in the trailer when Rafi’s grandmother implores him to get closer to Miloni while taking a photograph by the sea-side.
The film was shot a while back and was making rounds of several film festivals across the globe. Now, it is finally ready to hit the home turf on March 15, 2019.
