He has been a part of several popular commercials in the past and now Nikhil Bhambri is set to make his acting debut in Lost Boy Productions’ new show ‘Puncch Beat’ which will soon stream on ALTBalaji. In this exclusive interview, he talks about his first show, harbouring acting dreams from a young age and why he will be celebrating his birthday this year for the very first time.
How was the experience of working on ‘Puncch Beat’?
Working on ‘Puncch Beat’ was a great experience. The show will always remain very special to me as it marks my acting debut. My character Adheesh is very energetic and has several layers to it, so I could experiment a lot with it. Getting to work with ALTBalaji and Lost Boy Productions in my first show was amazing. I could not have asked for a better launch.
Your co-stars Harshita Gaur, Priyank Sharma and Siddharth Sharma are very popular amongst the youth. How was the experience of working with them?
It was wonderful working with all of them. Harshita has several years of experience behind her as an actress and I got to learn a lot from her. I have known Priyank much before the show started and we have been friends for a very long time. Siddharth is a very chilled-out person and I got along very well with him.
How did you get the show?
I went through multiple rounds of audition. After I was selected, I discovered that I will get to work with Niki (Walia) maasi, who is my mother’s real sister. She plays the dean of the school in the show.
Since your aunt has worked in the industry for a long time, you must have a good idea about the industry.
Yes, I always had a decent idea about the way the industry functioned. I have accompanied her to the sets a couple of times. Having said that, I never used my connection with her to make inroads into the industry or to get work. Whatever work I have got till now is because of auditions.
When did you first realise that you want to become an actor?
The first time I thought I wanted to become an actor was when I was eight years old. I did this play in school. The applause and appreciation I got for my performance made me want to pursue acting further.
Have you signed any other project?
We have finished shooting for ‘Puncch Beat’. There is some post-production work left. It should be out by February. I have shot for a few commercials and I am in talks for another web-series.
Your birthday is round the corner. Do you have any special plans this year?
Yes, I will be celebrating my birthday for the first time this year. I will be inviting a lot of my family members, relatives and friends, including the entire team of ‘Puncch Beat’, for a brunch and there will be a Sunday sundown party too.
Is there any particular reason why you will be celebrating your birthday for the first time this year?
The fact that ‘Puncch Beat’, my first show, comes out this year makes 2019 a very special year for me. I will turn twenty-four this year. Maybe, I have not achieved a lot but there have been through several experiences which have taught me a lot and helped me grow as a person. So, this time I want to celebrate my birthday in a big way with all those who are close to me.
