These are the superstars, majority of whom had multiple releases planned for 2020. With lockdowns and night curfews coming into force again and no clarity yet on when would things come back to normalcy, one waits for the new calendar for 2021. Of course there is always an OTT option but for now these are the films that are scheduled for theatrical arrival.
Akshay Kumar [Sooryavanshi, Bell Bottom, Prithviraj]
Every year, Akshay Kumar does have an average of three films releasing. In fact earlier on it seemed that the superstar would have four releases but then Bachchan Pandey was pushed ahead. While his Sooryavanshi has been ready for over a year, even Bell Bottom is ready. As a matter of act even Prithviraj is currently in post production.
Ajay Devgn [Bhuj: The Pride of India, Maidaan, RRR]
He has already delivered an all time blockbuster in 2019, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Though Ajay Devgn also has a special appearance in Sooryavanshi with a good role to play in RRR, he has two of his own films, Bhuj: The Pride of India and Maidaan, slated to arrive. In fact as of now, both these films are slated to arrive at the same time on Dusshehra.
John Abraham [Satyameva Jayate 2, Attack]
If not for the lockdown last year, John Abraham could well have enjoyed as many as three films arriving in a space of just 100 days – Mumbai Saga, Attack and Satyameva Jayate 2. While Mumbai Saga did manage a theatrical release when pandemic was peaking again, Satyameva Jayate 2 has still not changed its Eid date. As for Attack, its shooting is currently on.
Kartik Aaryan [Dhamaka, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2]
2020 was meant to be a really busy year for Kartik Aaryan with multiple releases in a single calendar year. His Love Aaj Kal arrived before lockdown but now 2021 will kick-start with Dhamaka, which has been designed as a straight-to-OTT release. Meanwhile, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 shooting will resume once things ease up and hopefully make it to theaters this year.
Tiger Shroff [Heropanti]
He has already wrapped up the first schedule of Heropanti, though now Tiger Shroff may just take a pause before resuming shoot for the Sajid Nadiadwala production. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film would see him in a stylish avtar and considering the fact that his Baaghi 3 was the last big grosser that the box office has seen, one waits for Heropanti to arrive now.
