Priya Ahuja who’s known for her role in India’s favorite television show, Taarak Mehta Ka Oolatah Chasma, has been using social media as a medium to empower women. While many actors use the platform to give their fans a sneak peek into their glamorous lifestyle, the actress has been using the medium to influence her followers to be more ‘body positive.
Although the whole idea of social media originally was to share moments of one’s life publicly or with one’s friends on the internet, it also quickly became a superficial place where public figures only share the best of their life’s moments, giving the impression of the ‘perfect life’. But like a few public figures, actress Priya Ahuja likes to ‘keep it real’- whether it comes to real or reel life. The actress who plays the role of Rita Reporter on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah has been the flagbearer for body positivity, and encourages her social media followers to ‘own up’ and embrace to their real selves and their real bodies, on their journey towards of a healthier lifestyle.
She says, “I’m someone who is comfortable in my skin, and I believe in embracing who I am. Yes, I did put on weight after my pregnancy, but instead of wasting time sulking, I started focusing on working towards a healthy lifestyle that included sweating it out in the gym, and maintaining a super clean diet. Although it’s important to stay fit and healthy, it’s even more important to not beat yourself over it- human bodies take time to change, and good results take time. Fitness is a lifelong journey, not a fast-tracked scheme to get skinny”.
The pretty actress posts quirky captions along with her pictures, and once even wrote a guide to get the perfect beach body, and added a hilarious yet meaningful twist to it. She wrote, “How to get a beach body”; Find a beach and go with whatever body you have. Love yourself, you are bloody precious”.
We’re in awe of the actress’s dedication towards a genuinely healthy lifestyle, and a motivation to encourage her followers to embrace their true selves. The actress is now looking to do substantial roles that can challenge the actor in her.
