Every other young man in the country dreams of being seen as a leading man on the big screen but there are very few who get to realise that dream. One such person is Dhruva Karunakar. The young lad is all set to make his debut as a lead actor in director Nitin G’s Ashwamedham. The actor will be seen in a multi-faceted role in his debut Telugu film and he proclaims that he could not have asked for a better debut.
“Your first film is very important as it decides which direction your career will head towards. Hence, it is imperative to be very careful when you pick your first film. In my case, I guess this film was a part of my destiny and I am glad it chose me. This is, truly, a dream debut for me.”
Though Dhruva is all set to realise his dreams of becoming an actor, the journey till here was not easy.
“I come from a very well-to-do family but as soon as I informed my father about my decision to pursue acting as a profession, he was very upset and gave me two options – leave acting or leave the house. I chose the latter as by that time, I had realised acting was the only thing I wanted to do. I was homeless for two years. Those were really tough times. I was homeless for two years.”
Tough times do not last but tough people do, they say and that holds true for Dhruva as well. He has a big film up for release and is now on good terms with his family as well.
“My dad recently saw the teaser and he had tears of joy in his eyes. He told me he should have let me follow my dreams and now, he will support me in every possible way. My dad is the most important person in my life and after hearing him say that, I felt that I had won an Oscar!”, he exclaims.
