When a filmmaker tastes success in one genre, he prefers to stick to it and make his subsequent films in the same space. Director Brijesh Batuknath Tripathi, who made his directorial debut with the war-drama ‘Battalion 609’, is all set to make a romantic drama with war as the backdrop. Though the ‘war’ angle remains constant, this will be a completely different film where the focus will be on the love story.
Titled ‘Videshi Munda Punjabi English’, the film is set to go on the floors soon and will be shot in some exotic locations abroad. The film is produced by SG Dastagir and presented by Zubby Films.
Talking about the film, Tripathi says, “Love stories that are set against the backdrop of war have always struck a chord with the audience. There are numerous examples like ‘Pearl Harbor’, ‘Casablanca’, among others. My film is in a similar mould and I am sure the audience will emrace it with open arms.”
“The story is about a Punjabi boy in the British army who is sent to Syria to save Indians held hostage there. The star cast has not been finalised but we are in talks with a few actors and hope to finalise the entire cast soon.”
The producer-dierctor has sevveral other projects in the pipeline which he will announce shortly.
