“Producer Waseem Rizvi talks about his controversial film ‘Ram Ki Janmabhoomi’.
What is your motive behind making this film?
My intention was never to create a controversy. My goal was to make an honest film about the incident and I think we have been achieved to do that. When this incident happened, the Government said that 16 karsevaks were killed but in reality, 250 were laid to death. A lot of facts were hidden and people tried to play politics over it. My aim is to show the people the truth.
What is your personal opinion on this issue?
I think people from both the communities Hindus and Muslims should sit together and resolve the issue peacefully. I personally believe that the disputed land in Ayodhya belongs to Lord Ram and the Hindus and a temple should be built there. People from the Muslim community should shake hands with the Hindus and happily allow them to build a temple there. Mosques can be built elsewhere too but that piece of land belongs to the Hindus.
Did you anticipate any trouble or controversy while making this film?
There are some people who will always create some disturbance and controversy. Even in the film, there is a character of a Pakistani mullah who is living in India to create problems between Hindus and Muslims. As I said, I have made a very honest film and I am scared of these people who are trying to sabotage the film.
What message do you wish to convey through this film?
India is a very diverse country and we must all learn to live peacefully together. We have to accept and be tolerant towards each other’s differences and not listen to those who are trying to create a rift between different communities.
