Mohammad Samad, known for movies like Gattu, Haraamkhor, Tumbbad, and Chhichhore, is gearing up for his upcoming film Malhar, which is set to release in theatres on June 7.
He played the lead role of Manju Kumar in the Netflix web series Selection Day. He won the Best Child Actor Award at the 12th New York Indian Film Festival.
Written and directed by Vishal Kumbhar and produced by Praful Pasad, the film also stars Sharib Hashmi, Anjali Patil, Rishi Saxena, Vinayak Potdar, Shrinivas Pokale, and Akshata Acharya in pivotal roles.
Talking about his role in the film, he said, “I am playing the role of Jatin in the movie. He is an adult, mature person who lives in the village.”
Sharing what attracted him to the character, he said, “It was a new character for me to do and experience. I was really attracted to the script and the writing. The role I got was the best I could do.”
Regarding the preparations and challenges he faced, he mentioned, “I had to learn some Kacchhi language, for which we had to practice for 1-2 weeks. That was a challenge I underwent.”
Speaking about his working experience, he said, “I had a very good experience working on this movie. I made good friends and visited many new places in Gujarat, especially the festival of Rann.”
Talking about the unique selling point of the film, he said, “The story and the script writing are the USP of the film. It’s a script of three different stories. This is a film that everyone can watch.”
