‘Namaste London’, which released in 2007, got a lot of love from the audience. In the last couple of years, there were several reports, at different points of time, about a sequel being planned. Finally, after eleven years, the second film in the franchise titled ‘Namaste England’ is ready to hit the screens.
When quizzed about the similarities in the two films, director Vipul Amrutlal Shah said, “The term ‘Namaste’ is definitely a common element in the two films (laughs). The stories in both the films revolved around Punjab and London.
Though there has been an ‘Aashiqui 2’ and the Dulhania series (‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’), there should have been more love/romance based franchises in an industry which churns out love stories very often.
“Maybe I should make ‘Namaste China’ and get Aamir Khan to do it. With the kind of fan following he has in China, it would be a guaranteed blockbuster. On a serious note, whether we can take it forward as a franchise depends on how this film does. If it turns out to be successful, we would definitely think of some ideas to make more films in the franchise.”
