After taking a break from films for a while, Parineeti Chopra resurfaced last year with ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’. Though the film did not very well at the box-office, it gets a lot of love from the people who watch it on television and other mediums today.
Talking about the film, Parineeti says, “The film is a big hit on satellite. There are so many people who come up to me and tell me that their favourite film of mine is ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’. I wonder where these people were when the film released in theatres. For me, ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ is a very special film for me and I am so glad that, despite not doing too well at the box-office, it is being watched by so many people today.”
When asked whether there are any similarities between Jasmeet, the character she plays in ‘Namaste England’ and her, she replies, “I played very strong and powerful characters in my first few films. People started thinking that I am that kind of a person. But, the truth is that I am a very sensitive, emotional and vulnerable person. I get to bring that to fore in ‘Namaste England’. Jasmeet is sensitive and emotional just like me. I think ‘Golmaal Again’ was the first time I got to play a character like that. I was a vulnerable girl in that film as well. Jasmeet is quite selfish about her career and dreams and is willing to hurt the people around her for the same. I will never do that. For me, my family and the people close to me are topmost priority.”
Parineeti made her singing debut with the song “Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin” in ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’. She recently recorded a single with Amaal Mallik.
“It will come out very soon. I have not had the time to do another dub and shoot the video. Once I get some time, I will work on it. I want to give it my all and will very hard to make sure the final product shapes up well.”
When quizzed about the status of her film ‘Takadum’, which was announced two years back, she says, “I do not think that film will be made anytime soon.”
