Most young actors today veer more towards urbane cinema or films that are set in a realistic space. A few like Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff have explored the larger-than-life, masala film space quite often and have tasted success in their endeavours but most Gen-Y actors have stepped away from entering this space. This genre of cinema remains the domain of the actors like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar who have been in the industry for three decades. Now, with Milap Milan Zaveri’s ‘Marjaavaan’, Sidharth Malhotra is all set to explore that space.
Sidharth has been going through a rough patch in his career what with his last success being ‘Kapoor & Sons’ (2016). Though he tried experimenting with different kind of films in the interim, nothing really worked out for him. Now, the actor is ready to unleash his ‘mass hero’ avatar in ‘Marjaavaan’, a film in which one will see him indulge in dialoguebaazi, romance, action and everything on expects a conventional Hindi film hero to do in an out-and-out masala film. One did see glimpses of it in his role in ‘Ek Villain’ (2014) but with ‘Marjaavaan’, one would get to see him as a larger-than-life hero for the first time.
As seen in a recently released video by the makers, Sidharth went through quite a bit of training and put some good effort into transforming himself into Raghu, a roadside ruffian whose life takes a turn when he meets Zoya (Tara Sutaria). In the film, he sports long hair, has a broader physique and made several other changes in his physicality and look to meet the requirements of the actor.
With the film around two weeks away from theatres, one looks forward to see how convincingly he manages to pull off this new avatar of his.
