After establishing himself in the television industry, Zuber K Khan<\/strong> is all set to announce his arrival in films. In this interview, the actor talks about his journey from being an engineering student to an actor, struggle and the desire to make it big in films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You seem to be taking\na big leap into films this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, I completed shooting for three films last year. One of\nthem was called \u2018Paagal Kar Diya Toone\u2019 which released recently. It was a\nthriller. We shot for the film pretty quickly. The second film is called \u2018Dosti\nKe Side Effects\u2019 which has Sapna Choudhary, Anju Jadhav and Vikrant Anand. It\nis a college based film about youth and friendship. There is another film which\nwill come out soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You started your\ncareer with \u2018Lekar Hum Deewana Dil\u2019 in 2014. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, I had a cameo in the film. I played a naive, prospective\ngroom who had come to see Karishma, played by Deeksha Seth. I did a couple of\nmore films. Then, I shifted to television and worked a lot there. I did \u2018Kasam\nTere Pyaar Ki\u2019 for two and a half years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have studied\nengineering. How did you get into acting?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My parents wanted me to become an engineer. My family has\nalways been serious about academics.  My brother\nis a mechanical engineering who studied in the UK and my mother is a professor.\nMy mother was keen on me taking up a secure job. Initially, she was not\nsupportive of me wanting to become an actor. After I finished my engineering, I\ngave my degree to my mother and then, I requested her to let me follow my\ndreams. I did very well as an engineering student but I was always focussed on making\na career in acting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did you have to go through a lot of struggle after you\nlanded in Mumbai?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, initially there was a lot of struggle. I got my first\nad eight months after I came to Mumbai. I was really heartbroken as I was also\nnot getting any support from my parents during this phase. But, the\ndifficulties I faced made me a stronger person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have acted in television\nand films. Do you want to restrict yourself to films now or are open to working\nacross different mediums?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doing films was always my priority. I have always wanted to\nromance a heroine, sing songs and dance around tress (laughs). But, I got a lot\nof recognition on television. I used to get paid on a regular basis. Having\nsaid that, as an actor you want to grow. Films have given me the platform to\nexperiment different kind of roles and subjects. In television, you shoot twelve\nscenes a day and in films, you shoot one scene a day. At the moment, my focus\nis on doing films but if I get a very good character to portray on television,\nI will definitely lap it up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you want to\nexplore the digital medium as well?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The kind of stuff that is being made on digital is a little\nbold and provocative. I am not comfortable doing intimate scenes. If I get some\nproject where there such scenes are weaved organically and not forced into the\nnarrative, I wold like to explore it but for the moment, I am not keen on doing\nsomething on the digital platform. I recently said no to a film which had\ncertain bold scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is there any actor you\nhave grown up admiring?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I admire all the actors who came from outside the industry and\nmade it on their own. Shah Rukh sir, Akshay sir and Joh sir are three people\nwho have inspired me the most. As an actor, I have always been inspired by Shah\nRukh sir. During our modelling days, all of us used to look up to John sir as\nhe was somebody who made a very good transition from being a model to an actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is there any role you\nwish you had played?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would have loved to play Mohan from Swades. I would have\nalso loved to play an anti-hero like Shah Rukh sir did in Darr. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are you doing\nnext?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have shot for a film called \u2018Mystery\u2019 with Diana Khan.\nThere are two more films I have signed. I will be able to talk about them as\nsoon as the makers make a formal announcement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
