The first half of 1981 proved to be a mighty one . It was a half year of bounty . Bombay industry never had the occasion to see such a hit parade in the former or latter year half of any year .

Big films , barring a few exceptions , struck it big at the box-office . Staking claims for over 'one crore' business per territory became quite common . The 6 months saw the release of 69 films , 5 of which were dubbed from South films .
