2. Fresh pairing Salman Khan and Kajol had shared screen space earlier in 'Karan Arjun' but in that film, Kajol was paired opposite Shah Rukh and Mamta Kulkarni played Salman's love interest. This was the first time the two actors were cast opposite each other in a film and their pairing added to the freshness of the film. 3. Served as the debut of Himesh Reshammiya and Sajid-Wajid Though Jatin-Lalit were the main composers of the film, Himesh Reshammiya and Sajid-Wajid were given a song each to showcase their talent. While Himesh composed 'Odh Li Chunariya Tere Naam Ki", Sajid-Wajid were credited with the qawalli number "Teri Jawaani Badi Mast Mast Hai". Salman Khan took the composers under his wings and gave them the opportunity to compose the music for several of his films. 4. The shirtless trend Gym owners in India must be thankful to Salman Khan for starting a trend of going shirtless and sporting a chiselled physique. This trend started with the song 'O O Jaane Na'. It was the first song in which Salman Khan appeared shirtless, something which became sort of a trend in the future. The legend goes that they were shooting the song in a place far away from the city and the t-shirt which Salman was supposed to wear in the song did not fit him. As they did not have any alternative, it was decided that the actor would appear shirtless in the song. 5. Sohail Khan's only hit as a director Sohail Khan started his career as a director with the Salman Khan-Sanjay Kapoor-Shilpa Shetty starrer 'Auzaar' which did not create any ripple at the box-office. 'Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya' gave a much needed shot in the arm to his career as it proved to be a huge success at the box-office. He later went on to direct films like 'Hello Brother', 'Maine Dil Tujhko Diya', 'Jai Ho' and 'Freaky Ali', 'Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya' remains to be his only clean hit as a director till date. Though 'Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya' is remembered for Salman and Kajol's pairing the song 'O O Jaane Jaana' rather than its content, in the opinion of this writer it is a clean, family entertainer that has aged pretty well. It is interesting to note that the plot of the 2005 Tamil film 'Nuvvostanante Nennoddantana' and its official Hindi remake 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya' was starkly similar to 'Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya'.
