John Abraham - The Action Dhamaka
- Pankaj Kumar Sinha           Let us know what you think about this article

John Abraham's 'Rocky Handsome' opened to mixed reviews from critics. The box office collection has also not been up to the mark. But, the action of the film has certainly raised the standards in Indian cinema and now expectations will be higher. The action is very raw and unique. John Abraham is our new action dhamaka. He has done an excellent job in action scenes but I would like to add that he has to improve further as an actor. He is not a very convincing actor and is very average at emotional scenes. John Abraham is great at doing action scenes but not as good in other scenes. The brooding roles or negative roles suit him better as an actor. He has done multi starrer comedies and they have met with success at box office but the credit goes to other actors in movie for their excellent comic timing.

John Abraham should understand his strength as an actor and he can be an iconic star if he concentrates on doing only action films. He can be the Sylvester Stallone of Indian Cinema. He has one of the best physiques in the Hindi film Industry. His "Rocky Handsome" lacked a strong antagonist. Lord Ram could not have been great without Ravana in his life. Every strong hero should have equally strong villain then the final battle looks more engaging and interesting. His earlier action film 'Force' had Vidyut Jamwal and it looked battle of equals between hero and villain. The villain in Rocky Handsome was just not powerful enough. John Abraham needs to work harder at emotional scenes to take his action to the next level. The action without emotions will never take your scenes to the next level.

Amitabh Bachchan played the angry young man in his early films and that made him the biggest superstar of the country. But Amitabh Bachchan was an iconic actor and he was equally at ease at any kind of roles. With time, he starting experimenting as an actor and doing different kind of films and he also tasted success with those films. Nobody can be compared to him. Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna were also very successful in action films. They were very good looking actors with great physique. Dharmendra was called the He-Man of Bollywood. But again Dharmendra was also a good actor and he also received success with romantic films and comedies. Vinod Khanna started his career as a villain but later started getting roles as a hero. He was an underrated actor. His 'Mere Apne' and 'Dayavan' are good examples of how good the actor he was.

We had Sunny Deol and Sanjay Dutt, who ruled Bollywood with their action avatar. According to me, Sunny Deol was the most intense action star and best of the lot when it came to performing action scenes. His strong dialogues with his personality onscreen were unmatchable. His action scenes were done with lot of emotions around it. He received the National award for his performances in Ghayal and Damini. Ajay Devgn, Sunil Shetty and Akshay Kumar started their career by doing a lot of action films and were a part of successful action entertainers. But, they started growing as an actor and exploring different kinds of cinema. We never had an actor, who keeps doing only action roles with every film like Sylvester Stallone.

Superstar Salman Khan started his career with romantic roles and later moved to comedies. He recently met with a lot of success at the box office with action oriented films like 'Wanted', 'Dabangg', 'Dabangg 2' and 'Jai Ho'. But after super success of emotional social drama 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', he wants to experiment as an actor and wants to do different kinds of cinema. John Abraham can be our next action king and he has a penchant for such roles and films. He he has said the same during media interactions. The expectations will be higher from his films after high octane action drama 'Rocky Handsome'. The action role suits him very well. He looks manly and has great physique. We want to see him doing more action movies and raising the bar every time. The action films will be always in demand.
