Varun Dhawan & Tiger Shroff: Commercial Stars of Young Bollywood

In this young generation of actors, we had pinned our hopes on charismatic Ranbir Kapoor to be biggest commercial star today. He has been doing niche films and has become more of an actor in range of Irfan Khan and Nawazzudin Siddiqui. He is rarely been part of proper commercial film. The actors need to understand take of audience. The films have to be entertaining. Ranveer Singh is another potential to be commercial film star but his choice of films are also different.

Today's actors need to finely balance between doing commercial and niche films. You can't become a big star only doing niche films otherwise Manoj Bajpayee, Irfan Khan and Nawazzudin Siddiqui would have been huge stars and their movies doing business of one hundred crores at box office. The stars need to have charisma. Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff are truly representing commercial films for this generation of actors. They have chosen mostly films which may not get critical acclaim but will get wider audience. The combination or getting both is great. Aamir Khan is the only actor to be successful in getting both critical acclaim and box office success consistently.

Varun Dhawan has till now acted in ten films and yet to face box office failure. The eight of his ten films were commercial entertainers. Being from film background, he knew that you need to build your audience first. You need to have certain fan base before exploration to different kind of films. In between, he did two niche films with Badalpur and October where he showed his different range of acting and got lot of critical acclaim. He has been very smart in his choice of films. Ranbir Kapoor needs to learn this quality from this young star. Varun Dhawan also knows his success in niche films belongs indirectly to his successful commercial entertainers. He has built a good fan base and is helping him to try different kinds of roles and films.

Tiger Shroff is Action King of this younger generation of actors. I don't think right now anybody can challenge him also in this genre. He has the best physique and truly excellent at action scenes. With Action, he can always remain popular with masses. In India, the masses love action films and Tiger Shroff has potential to take action movies in India to different level. We want to see action of Hollywood standards in Indian films also. He is only choosing commercial films and is very clear in what he wants. The awards and critics are not widely regarded at Bollywood.

Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff can create next generation of rivalry for commercial films and box office success. They need to continue to be smart in their choices in choosing films. We Indians are encouraging niche films and watching all kind of films but commercial entertainers will always rule.
