Films promotions on sensitive issues is not right
- Pankaj Kumar Sinha, Special Correspondent           Let us know what you think about this article

Promoting your film a month before it release has become the norm. The actors are going to every television show and are all over media during that period, so that their film gets a good opening on the weekend. Filmstars needs to learn some tricks of marketing campaigns. Sense of humour plays a very important role to connect with your audience better. Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan are master in their film promotions. They are innovative and intelligent in marketing their films. Today contemporary young actors need to learn this from them. The promotions need to be more interesting. It should also give you a movie experience.

The current generation of film actors do not give you that feeling of a star. They come across as a normal young man or a girl walking around in a public space. In fact, lots of television actors are more popular than our film stars. They want to be splashed into news every now and then. You start getting bored with them. They are too active on social media with their tweets and Instagram photos. We may not get to see stardom of the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan or Madhuri Dixit in the future. The fans would get crazy seeing them. There would be huge crowds waiting for them.

The social media plays an important role in film promotions and also interacting with your fans. It connects you with your audience directly. The media has been unfair to actors sometimes by asking them political questions or questions on sensitive issues. It is not necessary, the actor may be aware about all the happenings in the country or around the world. They are no super heroes in real life. They are playing parts or characters in their films. We need to understand that there exists a fine line between reel and real life. It is good if actors are more aware about the what is happening in the country and the world. They are role models to younger generation in the country.

Sometimes, actors go over board promoting their films. They cross the fine line of sensitivity. Half updated news is always more dangerous. Twitter has become an important medium for actors to put forth their views. It is important you are aware of the issues completely before giving your views on social platforms. The actors will be trolled to hell for any misjudgment. They need to be more careful before putting in their comments on social media. We are not against their freedom of speech. Like any person in the country, they have every right to express their views.

The recent tweet by actor Sidharth Malhotra promoting his film 'A Gentleman' ahead of the verdict against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on rape case registered in 2002 was not in good taste. If your tweet was concerned only with safety of people in Haryana, it would have been appreciated but you are promoting your film in the same tweet and is very careless and a clear case of selfishness. The film promotions on sensitive issues is not right. The actors need to be more sensitive and aware in this regard.
