M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story - a litmust test for Sushant Singh Rajput
- Pankaj Kumar Sinha           Let us know what you think about this article

Sushant Singh Rajput is four films old but has already proved his mettle as an actor. There is no doubt that among his contemporaries, with Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, he is one of better actors. He does not come from a film background and so his success is more motivational for people who are not from the industry. He began his career with the successful television show 'Pavithra Rishta' and forayed into films with Abhishek Kapoor directed 'Kai Po Che'. The film was based on Chetan Bhagat's book 'The Three Mistakes Of My Life.' The film was successful at the box office and received a lot of acclaim. His performance as an actor got rave reviews. The film made him a star instantly. His next was Maneesh Sharma's 'Shuddh Desi Romance', a sweet love story based in Rajasthan. He had support of Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor in the film. Again his performance was praiseworthy but it did not translate into box office success.

'Bymokesh Bakshi' was one of the most challenging roles of his career. But he had given his best to the character for this thriller. He picked the small pieces of his character so well that you were only seeing the character 'Bymokesh Bakshi' on the big screen. The film had a very serious tone, so it did not click well with audience despite being a brilliant film. I felt, the filmmaker could have added little humour to the film. His next was small cameo as 'Sarfaraz', a Pakistani man who falls in love with an Indian girl in Raj Kumar Hirani's 'PK'. It was a small role but he was noticed. His chemistry with Anushka Sharma was good. The film created history at the box office by cloaking in more than 300 crores at the domestic box office. Somewhere, he has been too choosy on his roles. At the beginning of an actor's career, there has to be two or three film releases per year.

Sushant Singh Rajput next release 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story' is the biggest test of his career. He is playing the role of one of the most iconic Indian cricketers 'Mahendra Singh Dhoni.' The expectations are very high for the film. Fans of Dhoni would like to see how well his character has been portrayed and has Sushant Singh Rajput done justice to the role. The trailer of the film hits the chords well and holds lot of promise. There is no doubt this could be the biggest film of his career. The film is helmed by Neeraj Pandey. M.S.Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains and cricketers of India. Sometimes playing a character that is bigger and more popular than your personality is a bigger challenge for an actor. This film's success can take him to bigger bracket of stars in our country.

The film will have excellent box office opening in India and overseas because of the brand Dhoni. This film will not need stardom of Sushant Singh Rajput but the actor will be dissected more critically. The film has been marketed well and Dhoni has also been a part of the marketing campaign of this film. Neeraj Pandey is one of best film makers in our country with films like 'A Wednesday' and 'Special Chabbis' to his credit. The biggest question will be answered next week whether Sushant Singh Rajput has done justice to his role. This will be a litmus test for him.
