Alia Bhatt, daughter of veteran film maker Mahesh Bhatt is turning to be a special talent in Bollywood. She debuted in the Karan Johar directed 'Student of the Year' with Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The film was successful at the box office and she was noticed for her stylish avatar in the film. Her acting needed to be honed. She was more of glamour doll in her first film. Her second film 'Highway' with Imtiaz Ali broke all her shackles as a performer. Her performance in this offbeat film showed her real capabilities as an actor. It was very different Alia Bhatt from her first film. She overshadowed actor like Randeep Hooda in the film. The character played by her was vulnerable in the film and had faced abuse as a child in the film. She depicted the pain in her eyes well.

In one of shows in Koffee with Karan, she answered few general knowledge questions wrongly. The media made an image of her as a dumb actress. Why is an actor suppose to know everything? She is intelligent in her choice of roles and films. '2 States' was a turning point of her career and it put her big league of actress in Bollywood. Alia Bhatt played a Tamilian in a film. She played the character 'Ananya' to perfection. The film was very successful and the youth loved the film. She and Arjun Kapoor made a fantastic pair in the film. With her first three films, she showed her range as an actress and star in her own right.

In her next film, 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya', Alia Bhatt proved that she can be a good commercial film actress. She showed us glimpses of her comic timing in the film. Her chemistry with Varun Dhawan in the film was good. Her next film Vikas Bahl's 'Shaandaar' with Shahid Kapoor proved to be a dud at the box office. The only memorable thing in the film was 'Gulabo' song with Alia Bhatt in moustache. She looked cute in that. You also need flops in between your career to keep you grounded. Her next film 'Kapoor and Sons' proved right at box office for her. The film was critically acclaimed. She was like a candle in a dark house in the film. Alia Bhatt is a scene stealer and completely dominated actors like Fawad Khan and Siddhartha Malhotra in scenes with them.

Alia Bhatt's best role came as a Bihari labourer in 'Udta Punjab'. This role was completely different from what she had played till now. She got into the character in looks, body language and accent. This was very difficult role as an actor. Her character is raped by multiple men and then she is put into drugs. The film must have been emotionally challenging for her. She played her character to the perfection. She got lot of appreciation by critics and audience for this role. She steals the show in the film from actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor despite they also having good roles in the film. She can surely expect an award for this film for her performance.

Her new film 'Dear Zindagi', directed by Gauri Shinde, with Shahrukh Khan has released this week. The film is about her character Kaira's journey. The film rests on her shoulders as Shah Rukh Khan is in a supporting role. Again she is playing a vulnerable character with childhood problem with her parents in the film. Alia Bhatt has again proved that she is special talent in Bollywood. She has given a brilliant performance and overshadows our superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the film. Alia Bhatt is proving to be Kohinoor diamond in Bhatt family and we are yet to see her in film with family banner 'Vishesh Films'. She has made a career without any support from her illustrious family. Her choice of characters and films shows her intelligence and maturity. Alia Bhatt is a special talent of Bollywood.
